Network & Learn Sundowner 24 May 2023

A great night had by all at the Henderson Alliance Network and Learn Sundowner at the Old Courthouse in Fremantle on 24th May 2023. A very special thank you to Christine Ross FAIM for attending our event during such a busy time preparing for National Reconciliation Week commencing on the 27th of May to the 3rd of June.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank AIDN WA's Reena Strehle, Sarah Thomas for attending and in particular Brett Peek for his briefing on this year's AIDN WA & Henderson Alliance WA Defence Industry Gala Dinner which will be held at Optus Stadium on Friday the 3rd of November.

Thank you to our Chairperson Rohan Green for providing an industry update and an overview on the recent DSR announcement. His closing statement was;

“Notwithstanding the unknowns that still exist after the release of the DSR, we know there will be commitments to expand HMAS Stirling and the Henderson CUF. What that looks like we are still to find out.

This means that we will need to wait a little bit longer to learn of the fate of existing Programs: Cancelled, Reduced or Expanded… and what new Programs are on the horizon. Beyond this uncertainty, one thing remains clear. There will be ample work in front of us in the future. We will just have to wait a little bit longer to find out what that looks like. The challenge for us in Industry is how we can rise to the challenge to deliver our ADF a more diverse capability.. and SOONER.

We will be entering a new era with the introduction of Nuclear powered Submarines, and Long Range Strike missiles.

Industry is going to have to adapt and adapt fast. We are going to need immediate guidance and support from Government at both state and Federal level to make this happen.

This is something that the Henderson Alliance will be focussing on, and we are already actively engaging with stakeholders to make sure that WA Industry doesn’t miss out.”

Finally, a big thank you goes out to our members Lianne Kelly from Core Additive, Nisarg Shah from Coreiot and Shaleesa Keye from OLP Robotics for presenting their capabilities which covered our Network and Learn Topic - New Technology and Innovation in Defence Manufacturing.
